2008 Jr. Dragster Rules
Jr. Dragster drivers will earn 10 points for entering an eliminator and an additional 10 points for each round won. Points are awarded to the driver and a driver may earn points in only one eliminator per event. If you should win and be unable to return to competition, please notify the tower to ensure your points are awarded correctly. Please Note: In order to run faster than 8.90...you MUST be at least 13 years old. Jr. Dragster drivers must enroll in the points program ($20) in the tower. Drivers must use their Jr. Drag Racing League number to earn points. Wichita Raceway Park can assign a temporary number until you receive your permanent JDRL number. All drivers must be a member of the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League and have a current JDRL participant number.


1. Deep staging is allowed. Drivers must have deep written on their car.
2. When staging, if a driver accidently deep stages and wishes to re-stage, the driver must raise their hand and the starter will move the car back for re-staging. You may only re-stage once.
3. No driver may run 2 separate eliminators at the same event.
4. All 8 & 9 year olds must run 12.90 or slower as stated in the JDRL Rulebook.
5. Ages 10-12 are restricted to 8.90 seconds and slower as stated in the JDRL Rulebook.
6. Advanced (ages 13-17) Restricted to 7.90 seconds or slower as stated in the JDRL Rulebook.
7. The exhaust on your racecar may not extend past the rear edge of the tires.
8. Staging devices of any kind are prohibited.
9. Once a participant commits to a staging lane, DO NOT make any lane changes.
10. No car may run consolation Eliminator if the driver is still in competition in any other class.
11. All dial-ins must be on the car or with the driver. Dial-in boards MAY NOT be displayed by crew member.

2008 General Rules
1. Alcohol consumption by participating drivers is prohibited!DRIVERS CAUGHT DRINKING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR USING ILLEGAL DRUGS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. Fighting, unsportsmanlike conduct, profane language, threatening a track official or other aggressive behavior targeted at any track official, racer or spectator will not be tolerated. Expulsion from the facility and other disciplinary action at the discretion of the track management may result.
2. NO ALCOHOL is allowed in the staging lanes or on the starting line area.
3. NO GLASS BOTTLES are allowed on the track premises.
4. The speed limit in the pit area is at a idle.
5. NO skate boards or roller blades are allowed in the pit area.
6. NO scooters, 3/4 wheelers, or bikes are to be used for recreational riding in the pit area. (Parents, for your children's safety, please help us by monitoring your OWN children).
7. Children under the age of 16 are not allowed on these vehicles.
8. All drivers may reserve only 1 parking spot for friends.
9. Only persons with Time Only cards allowed to run during Time Onlys.

Racer Rules
1. All cars must have seat belts. Cars running 7.49 or faster must have restraint system meeting SFI 16-1 specifications. (See NHRA Rule Book)
2. All cars running 7.35 or faster must have a roll bar. Cars running 6.99 or faster must have a roll cage.
3. All cars running between 4.00 and 6.39 must have a chassis certification every three years.
4. All cars running 8.59 or faster, driver must wear a helmet.
5. All cars running 7.35 or faster, driver must wear a fire retarding jacket.
6. All drivers of cars running 6.39 or faster must have an NHRA Competition License or apply for and make license passes within 30 days of first pass quicker than 6.39 E.T..
7. All drivers MUST wear long pants. Drivers MAY NOT wear sleeveless shirts!
8. All cars running 6.39 or faster (or where batteries have been relocated to the trunk area) must have a master electrical cutoff switch.
9. All cars, JR Dragsters and motorcycles will be required to have one working tail light on .
10. Motorcycles - All riders must wear leather jacket, leather gloves, leather shoes (above ankle) and full face helmet.
11. All 8 & 9 year olds must run 12.90 or slower as stated in JDRL Rule Book.
12. Ages 10-12 are restricted to 8.90 seconds and slower as stated in the JDRL Rule Book.
13. Ages 13-17 are restricted to 7.90 seconds and slower as stated in the JDRL Rule Book.
14. The exhaust on your car may not extend past the rear edge of the tires.
15. Staging devices of any kind are prohibited.
16. Courtesy stage, only Pre-Stage until opponent Pre-Stages.
17. Wait for green bulb on tree to be solid before entering Pre-Stage beams. Green bulb must be solid for tree to activate.
18. Car numbers and Dial-ins on top of car will not be accepted as a valid number.
19. Must have signed tech card to be able to drive the car stated on the tech card. Anyone that makes a pass down the track MUST purchase a tech card!
20. No burn outs allowed past the starting line with street tires.

Bracket Program Rules
1. All drivers of cars running 6.39 or faster must have current NHRA Competition License.
2. All cars running between 4.00 and 6.39 must have chassis certification every three years.
3. All drivers running 8.59 or faster must wear helmets meeting Snell K98 or above specs.
4. All drivers running 7.49 or faster must wear fire retarding jacket.
5. All drivers must wear long pants. Drivers may not wear sleeveless shirts.
6. All cars running in Super Pro, Quick, Pro and No Electronics must have a drive shaft loop (with the exception of cars running 8.50 or slower with street tires).
7. All cars running Super Pro and Quick must have after-market rear axles.
8. All cars running 6.99 or faster must have a Transmission Shield or Approved Bell Housing.
9. All cars running an automatic must have reverse lockout.
10. All cars running 7.49 or faster must have a roll bar. Cars running 6.99 or faster must have a roll cage.
11. All cars running 6.39 or faster (or where batteries have been relocated to the trunk area) must have a master electrical cutoff switch.
12. All drivers of open wheel cars must wear approved arm restraints, gloves and neck collar.
13. All cars must have seat belts. Cars running 7.49 or faster must have restraint system metting SFI Spec 16-1. (See NHRA Rule Book)
14. All cars must have one working tail light.
15. Delay Boxes - Permitted (in all classes except No Electronics and Street). One box/device only, may be attached to the transbrake and/or throttle timer only. Any other attachment is prohibited. Delay box may only display delay amount dialed-in (analog or digital display is permitted). All direct wiring must be clearly identifiable to Tech Inspector. Delay device connected to shift timers, data recorders, or any other equipment (i.e., delay box testers, counters, burnout timers, etc.) are prohibited.
16. It is the driver's responsibility to check their dial-ins on the scoreboards before staging. Racers will NOT be re-run due to misread dial-ins. When you stage, you accept that dial-in.
17. Can not change dial-in after leaving staging lanes.
18. All dial-ins MUST be visible to tower when cars pull into the water box. Dial-ins on top of car WILL NOT be accepted as a valid dial-in..
19. No car may switch staging lanes after the official has begun to pair cars.
20. In an attempt to stay one step ahead, we encourage all drivers to have mufflers.
21. A driver may not change vehicles after eliminations have begun.


To avoid delays between classes, the next class to run may be called to a pre-stage area while the staged class is being run. DRIVERS SHALL REMAIN WITH THEIR VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES AFTER ENTERING THE STAGING LANES AND KEEP VEHICLES TIGHTLY GROUPED.
NO DEEP STAGING. If you turn off either the "pre-stage" or the "stage" light after your opponent has staged you are disqualified. If you turn out the pre-stage bulb and the tree starts down, the computer will automatically red light your lane. Once three bulbs are lit (two pre-stage and one stage), you have 15 seconds to complete the staging procedure.
Courtesy staging is enforced. If you light the pre stage light first, you must wait for your opponent to light their pre stage light. If you do not, you will made to back out and re-stage. You will get one warning and then you will be disqualified
Loss of ANY fluid may result in disqualification at the discretion of track officials. If you "break out" (run quicker than your dial-in) you lose, unless your opponent breaks out also. Then the vehicle breaking out the least is declared the winner in keeping with the "First or Worse" rule. If both break out by the exact same amount, the driver crossing the finish line first wins.
You are disqualified if you "red light" or if you touch or cross the track centerline with any tire. In cases of two (2) infractions on the same run, the "FIRST OR WORSE" rule will be invoked; for example, a vehicle crossing the centerline loses even if this was the second infraction. Centerline violations must be witnessed by a track official.
One crew member is allowed on the starting line behind the starter per car. Each Crew member MUST stay on the outside painted area. The center painted area of the race track is PROHIBITED. The center painted area is for Track Official's ONLY. Crew member MUST be at least 16 years of age.

No Electronics Rules
1. Delay boxes, throttle stop controllers, automated throttle stops, nitrous controllers, automated shifters (electrical or pneumatic) and any device that relays vehicle performance or on-track locations other than OEM equipment is PROHIBITED and MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE.
2. Line Lock devices allowed only on non-driven wheels. Button for the line lock cannot be mounted on the steering wheel. Line Lock device is not to used for launching vehicle. All wiring to line lock must be visible and traceable by tech inspector.
3. Transbrakes are not to be used as a launching device.
4. Two or three step rev limiters are prohibited. A single stage rev limiter will be acceptable but cannot be used as a launching device (except for vehicles with manual transmissions).
5. Any other component legal unto themselves but altered in any way to affect vehicle performance, are prohibited.
6. Staging devices of any kind are prohibited.
7. Drivers and vehicles must meet all other NHRA standard rules.
8. Any car with a dial in of 8.99 or slower MUST stage first.

Super Pro & No Electronics Quick 8 Rules
1. Field will be based on the 8 quickest E.T.'s from two rounds of qualifying for Super Pro & No Electronics.
2. All drivers must make a minimum of ONE qualifying run in the car that they wish to race during eliminations.
3. First round, all cars will be laddered using a Sportsman Ladder (#1 runs #5, #2 runs #8, etc.) In round 1, lane choice will go to the lowest qualified driver. Lane choice in the following rounds will go to the driver with quickest E.T. from the previous round.
4. There is no break rule in Quick Eliminator. In the event that a car breaks before 1st round, an alternate will be called into that position. If a car breaks in later rounds, his/her competion will receive a competion bye-run.
5. Drivers MAY NOT dial slower than one-tenth off their qualifying pass.
6. Any cars that attempt, but fail to qualify, will recieve a refund.
7. Any cars that want to qualify for the Quick Eliminator, will have to purchase their tech card at the front gate.
8. There will be NO points awarded in WRP's Quick Eliminator, however, points WILL be awarded in the Mr Wendell's BTE Quick series.

Mr Wendell's BTE Quick Series

1. All cars will be given two(2) qualifying rounds. These are seperate from the regular Super Pro and No Electronics class

2.Mr Wendell's Quick BTE Series will be held on the third weekend of each month, starting in May.

Super Pro Class will consist of 8 dragsters and 8 door cars with the door cars running the door cars and the dragsters running the dragsters. The winner from each class will move into the finals, so there will always be a dragster and a door car in the final. Door cars will include left handed steer roadsters.

This series will have it's own points and the winner at the end of the year will recieve a $1000 gift cetificate from BTE Transmissions and the runner up will recieve a $500 gift certificate from BTE Transmissions.

You will purchase your tech card at the gate and you will have to qualify.


Trophy Street Eliminator Rules
1. Cars MUST be street legal.
2. Open exhaust IS NOT permitted.
3. Open to cars or trucks no matter how fast or how slow
4.DOT Tires ONLY


Points Program Rules
1. Enrollment for the 2008 Points Program is done at the tower. The cost is $25.for Bracket cars and $20 for Jr Dragsters.
2. Drivers are advised to purchase a NHRA Competition number and NHRA membership. If a driver chooses not to become a NHRA member, Wichita Raceway Park will assign the driver a permanent number. All cars numbers, whether NHRA or Wichita Raceway Park, shall be permanently displayed with 4 inch vinyl stickers on the driver's side of the car in order to be easly read by the tower staff. Car numbers on top of car WILL NOT be accepted as a valid number.
3. Points will be given in all eliminators.
4. Drivers will earn 10 points for Staging in a eliminator class and an additional 10 points for each round won. Points WILL NOT be awarded if you buy back in.
5. A driver may not drive more than one car in the same eliminator.
6. A driver may drive the same car in separate eliminators.
7. Points will be awarded to the driver not the car.

In regard to the King Of The Track event, to win the wally or trophy, you MUST be enrolled in WRP points. If you do win the race and are not in the points, the highest placing person in the points will win the wally or trophy, but you can still win the money even if you are not enrolled in points.


**2008 Summit Racing ET Finals**
Wichita Raceway Park's team will consist of the top 50 point holders. If a racer earns points in more than one class, his/her position will be determined by the class with the highest points and any other position will be forfeited. A driver may only fill one position on the team. .
